A gentle, restorative experience to receive the rejuvenating benefits of Iyengar Yoga. This class invites longer holds of nourishing, restorative poses, Pranayama (breath work), reiki healing, and sound meditation. This class is ideal for those who would like to promote a feeling of calm within their day.

An empowering, yet nourishing experience for supporting the sacred transitional years of peri-menopause, menopause and post-menopause. These classes incorporate Iyengar yoga, meditation, pranayama techniques, reiki healing, acupressure, sound healing and self massage.

One to One Yoga

What is Iyengar Yoga?

Iyengar yoga was created and developed over 75 years ago by Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar. It is a method of yoga that develops strength, flexibility, optimal body alignment, self awareness, relaxation and deep inwards reflection. B.K.S. Iyengar based his approach on the traditional eight limbs of yoga, taught over 2500 years ago by the sage Patanjali. Mr. Iyengar believed that yoga goes beyond the physical discipline - in that it is also an art, science and a philosophy.

The Iyengar method is accessible for all ages and all body types. Props are used to enhance the practice and to allow for accessibility to the asanas, so everyone can receive the benefits of the practice, which integrates body, mind and emotions.

Iyengar Yoga has a world wide standardized system of instruction. Certified Iyengar Yoga teachers undergo rigorous and lengthy training (upwards of 3 years) and are evaluated in an intense certification process of practical and written examinations. Through this skilled teaching, students receive the highest standard of yoga instruction and development in this discipline that can be practiced throughout all stages of life. Iyengar Yoga is perfectly suited to women and B.K.S. Iyengar’s daughter, Geeta Iyengar developed the practice to uniquely benefit women in her lifetime. A legacy that now continues through the teachings of her niece, Abhijata Iyengar.
