How to Embrace Your Autumnal Glory
Hello women,
I welcome you on this beautiful Fall morning and, I hope you will join me in a small sacred pause wherever you are. If it’s morning for you, maybe put the kettle on... if it’s evening, I invite you to get cosy, curl up a while and take a few minutes with me to press pause and come into the present moment. Thank you for being here.
It’s midway through the month of September and the promise of a spectacular autumn season, hangs expectantly in the crisp morning air. I love it!
Spring was always my favourite season, as when I lived in England is was the time of year that spoke of warmth returning, floral majesty blooming and renewal of life and energy. I’m an Aries sun sign and the energy piece is huge for me! However, since moving to this part of Canada, where spring is kind of cold, and often a little muddy with melting snow and an absence of flowers until late May... I needed a new season to speak to my heart. It quickly became Fall: warm days and breathtaking displays of yellow, gold, ochre and red, swaying in the breeze atop the canopy above, waiting hesitantly to shower in a crunch fest of autumnal glory. Yes...it’s joyful!
So as I sit here, enjoying the warm sun and watching the leaves turning before my eyes, I am drawn to thinking about how Fall represents women in the feminine life cycle. The Triple Goddess concept of Maiden, Mother, Crone is often linked to the seasons. Spring representing The Maiden, Summer signifying The Mother and The Crone, portrayed by Winter. Autumn, it would seem does not ‘fall’ into place. I was compelled by this disconnect, to ponder the time between the birthing years and that of post menopause. The time of being a mother to older children, or not, and those later, winter years of the wise crone.
Could this time be the shining, warm, autumnal glory of the feminine life cycle? A time when women can really bask in the beauty of themselves: in the wisdom of the years gone by when they have come to know their deepest truth, while celebrating the many years before them, in which to enjoy and revel in their vibrancy and freedom.
Autumn is an extension of the beauty of summer. The warmth remains in during the day, but the mornings and the evenings are cooler: dawn and dusk, those enchanting, liminal spaces of time, are tranquil, softer. The intensity of summer heat diminishes and a gentleness descends. A calmer vibration and a depth of serenity that comes from moving, ever so slightly, towards inward reflection during this season. The veil becomes thinner and both the season, and the season of life, have a magical quality. Nature reflects the human condition in so many ways. The synchronicities are abundant and as cyclical beings, women are intrinsically woven into the cloth of the Great Mother.
So revel in the beauty of this Autumn season ahead, as it unfolds gloriously around you. And if you are approaching Autumn in the feminine life cycle, embrace it. It’s going to be a breathtaking display of who you really are!
