Welcome to my blog, A Sacred Pause. I hope you will sit with me here in this space for a little while. Maybe drink some tea and step out of your busyness, to quietly read and enjoy my musings on life, women’s wellness, mothering, yoga, meditation, energy practices, spirituality, creativity and the sacredness of being a women in today’s world. I’m so glad you are here.

I’m Jill, owner of Sacred North Yoga + Wellness. I’m a mother of two, an Iyengar Yoga teacher, postpartum doula, Reiki master and lover of all things sacred and spiritual. I’m a Northern gal. I live in Canada, but I was born and raised in the north of England and my ancestors were from even farther North, in Norway and Sweden. Cold, dark winters and light, bright summers - it’s in my blood.

My home in Canada displays the beauty of the North to perfection. I will be sharing my love for it in these pages, the breathtaking nature on my doorstep, and how it nurtures my soul.

As I write, the summer days of the Northern hemisphere are waning and we are moving into my favourite season of Fall. The pumpkin spice lattes are brewing and the leaves are just about to start their transformation from glossy green to burnish gold, before they teach us the ultimate lesson in letting go. As the earth shifts into this new season and the wheel of the year turns towards the Autumn Equinox, we are all searching for some balance in our lives. Memories of long, hot summer days stay with us, but our outer world starts to embrace the chill of the crisp morning air and feeling of routine returning again.

So now I’ve introduced myself, let’s meet again very soon in another small Sacred Pause from the hustle and bustle of the world. I will be here, with my oat milk pumpkin spice latte, sharing something that is close to my heart. My hope is that it will be a window of nourishment in your day and a little salve for your soul.
